Welcome To The Mississippi Geocachers Association Website
Welcome to the home of the Mississippi Geocachers Association (MSGA). The purpose of our organization is to promote the sport of Geocaching in Mississippi and to provide information to the public about our activities and the sport of geocaching. Please spend some time on our site. If you have any questions, feel free to email us or visit geocaching.com for details.
The Mississippi Geocachers Association (MSGA) is a group of Mississippi geocachers who are committed to promoting safe, responsible, and environmentally friendly geocaching. We welcome the involvement and cooperation of park management and government to work with us to develop this activity to benefit both geocachers and parks. The MSGA also provides a way for people to come together to organize regional activities and events that will promote the credibility of the sport and bring families together in nature and technology.

| How long will
you work on puzzle caches before you give up? I don't do puzzle caches
at all, I find them to be counter to the original intent of caching, which
is to get out and enjoy the outdoors, in my most humble opinion, so I
guess the answer is long enough to hit the ignore button. |
| What town/ areas
have you most enjoyed caching in? I enjoy caching everywhere I go, if
I didn't enjoy it, I would quit. |
| How long have
you been geocaching, and what was your first find? I have been caching
since March, 2004, but did not join geocaching.com
until May, 2004. My first cache was "Strawberry Field Cache's Aren't
Forever" hidden by Blue Canary. |
| Who usually goes
with you when you go caching? I have been luck to have cached with a
great many good folks, tdecell and I have made quite a few cache runs, as
well as ADS1, and the MSGA Legend himself, Ronbo!!! |
| Do you use
paperless caching? Yes, I have been paperless since July, 2004 and
have never missed it. |
| What kind of
geocaching rig do you use? I started with an Magellan Sportrak, then
went to a Garmin Legend, then a Garmin 60, I think? then I went with the
Garmin 60Cx, I also use GSAK, with Microsoft Streets and Trips on my
laptop. I also have a Pocket PC, but don't really use it that much. |
| Why would you
recommend anyone else to take up geocaching? To get out of the house,
unless of course they take a liking to puzzle caches, then they can
continue to sit in front of the computer, trying to figure out who to call
for the answer, when they can't figure it out!!! |
| Are you
originally from Mississippi? No, I was born and raised in West
Virginia, we moved here in 1993. I am what folks around here call a d****
Yankee, I came and stayed!! |
| What was your
first event ever attended? I drove up to Memphis and attended GCQ975,
Tennessee Geocoins-Passing out in Memphis, Ronbo was supposed to go with
me, but canceled out, so I drove up by myself, this event got me hooked on
geocoins, I have since attended quite a few events, including several mega
events. I enjoy getting out of the house and meeting people as well as
finding caches. |
| How many caches
have you found? As of this writing, I am sitting in Las Vegas, having
just logged my 1496th cache. |
| Which type of
cache container do you prefer over the rest? I prefer a good old ammo
can. |
| What was the
most famous cache that you have found? Being LWF, I have found quite a
few WF caches!!! I would guess that the APE cache in Illinois and the GPS
Maze cache would be tied for top honors. |
| Do you use
disposable batteries or rechargeable batteries? I have never had much
luck with disposables, so right after starting to geocache, I bought stock
in Proctor and Gamble, the makers of Duracell, and have never looked back,
I would like to take this time to encourage all caches to use Duracell!!!! |
